Synopsis
Having a deep crush on Yuki Fukazawa, Mikoto then decides to get into his high school cycling club as Fukuzawa's suggestion, even though he has never practiced any sport before. Ironically, the club's leader is Yousuke, Fukuzawa's older brother and a renown road racer from his town. Yousuke's long time cycling partner and club's vice president Kouichi Terao sees in Shinozaki all the potential and courage necessary to become a road cycling legend. Mikoto learns fairly quickly and is thus thrown into the world of cycling.

When i first read the synopsis i thought yawn some boring anime about bicycles but then i started to watch episode one and the opening song at first i wasnt interested but it grew on me.

As the series progressed i grew more hooked to each episode and i liked the way how the main protagonist had an other skill than cycling *painting* as usually in these underdog animes the main lead has no skills untill they discover there talent. As with all good animes the characters grow with each trial whether it be there own or anothers trial. Another key quality about this anime in particular is that although the main character has a lot of potential he doesnt defeat all his rivals straight away he works hard and finds himself still a long way off unlike most animes that would have him be better straight away although it ended rather .... open but closed that theres a possibility for a second season but i dont see how they would carry on (unless they show the last scene as shinozaki's dream) although Shinozaki finally admited he liked yuki i think the timley arrival of the brother was a little annoying as i was waiting from episode 10 to the end for there relationship to progress more but it ended quite short (not even a kiss)

All in all i rate this as a 8.5/10 because it shows a nice growth of characters a good story and a little romance id recomened to anyone even if they are not so hot on sports anime because this is a awesome anime!

Characters
Mikoto Shinozaki
1st year student and the third member of the schools cycling club. Originally living a quiet boring life and getting bullied daily by the upperclassmen. Until one day when Yuki Fukazawa asks him to join the schools cycling club. He rejects this proposal at first as he doesn't remember how to ride one. But wanting to impress Yuki he tries to train in secret and during this (short) time he starts to actually like bicycles.


Yuki Fukazawa
1st year student and Mikotos big crush. She is Yosuke's sister. She was the one that introduced Mikoto into the cyclying world. Although she normally acts cold towards Mikoto there are some hints as to her true feelings towards him as the story progresses.


Yosuke Fukazawa
3rd year student and the captain of the schools cycling club. Has been bicycle racing since his early childhood, though not very much liked by his teammates as no one was able to keep up with him. The exception being his friend Koichi. Both Yousuke and Kouichi ended up leaving the cycling club and later on started their own. He excels in downhill racing.


Koichi Terao
3rd year student and the second captain of the schools cycling club, he is the childhood friend of Yosuke and 2nd member of the cycling club.


Takeshi Yamato
1st year student in the same class as Mikoto. When Mikoto first sees Yamato riding, he doesn't realize who he really is and decides that Yamato is someone he must defeat and later on befriends him still not realizing his true identity as the "black clothed rider" as yamato always wears all black when he's out cycling.
