Synopsis

A junior at Titan High School, Shinichi Kudo is no ordinary teenager. Shinichi has developed a celebrity status as a world-class detective, solving crimes that leave the city's top law enforcement officials stumped and the nation cheering. One day, while at an amusement park with his girlfriend, Ran Mouri, Shinichi unwittingly finds himself at the scene of a sinister crime. Undaunted by the severity of the situation, Shinichi employs his keen deductive powers to skillfully locate the trail of the suspects. However, just as Shinichi stands poised to solve the case, he is captured by two members of a mysterious organization that operate under the darkest veil of corruption. In an effort to permanently silence the young detective, these shadowy men force Shinichi to drink a newly developed poison. Miraculously, Shinichi escapes death, only to find that the toxin has reduced his 17-year-old body to the size of a 2nd grader! ! Disguising his true identity by adopting the name "Conan Edogawa", Shinichi begins a series of intricate cases, cracking puzzling and sinister crimes, in a quest to unravel the secrets behind his attack and the poison that shrunk him.

This is a great anime to watch if you like mysteries. The show has been going on for a good 14 years, and it lives up to its reputation as one of the most popular animes of all times in Japan. The movies are epic and most of the episodes of the series are interesting. Careful don't get too addicted!

Characters

Conan Edogawa
The name Conan Edogawa comes from combining the names of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Edogawa Rampo. Conan is Shinichi's alter ego. He may appear to be a little kid, but he still has the mind of a 17-year-old. He lives with Ran and her father Kogorou in their house/private detective agency. As a result, Conan comes into contact with various cases and helps Kogorou solve those cases

Ran Mouri
Ran Mouri is Shinichi Kudo's childhood friend. She learned karate, and is a stubborn but determined teenage girl. Her parents separated years ago, and now she lives with her father, Kogoro Mouri, who's a detective. Her mother, Eri Kisaki, is a great lawyer and lives by herself in a big apartment far away from Kogoro's detective office. Since Shinichi disappeared, Ran still waits for him to return, believing he's handling some crime somewhere. They usually communicate with phone calls.

Kogori Mouri
Ran's father, a former police officer turned incompetent private detective. He's married to Eri Kadan, a successful lawyer and childhood friend, but they are now living separately. Despite his irresponsible ways, he appears to care deeply for his daughter, and at times shows some flashes of honor and strict ethics

Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya
A friend of Amy who has a scientific approach. He seems to be infatuated with both Amy and Ai Haibara (he doesn't know who he should protect). A smart and well-read first-grader who believes that technology can solve all problems.

Ayumi Yoshida
Amy is a lively, brave, young lady. This girl is in the Junior Detective League. She has deep affection for Conan, but he doesn't return it. The other two boys who follow like her, but she's clueless

Eri Kisaki
She is Ran's lawyer mother that has been separated with Kogoro for the last 10 years. She still wears her wedding band and still cares for him and is not above testing if he still cares for her

Genta Kojima
Kojima Genta is the leader of the Detective Boys. He's big, loves to eat, has a temper, and is a bit slow. He considers Conan a bit of a peripheral member of the group, despite his pivotal role in solving all their cases.

Professor Agasa
Shinichi's next door neighbour and a self-proclaimed inventing genius. He has known Shinichi for years. Agasa's inventions are frequently odd and usually fail. However, the devices he has invented for Conan (voice changing bow-tie, stun-gun wrist watch and solar powered skateboard) all work well and prove that Agasa is actually quite a good inventor. Agasa becomes a grandfather type for the Detective Boys, often taking them and Conan on trips.

Juzo Megure
Inspector Megure is a veteran police officer who has been working with Shinichi/Conan, Yusaku Kudo and Kogori Mouri. In fact, Mouri used to work under him 10 years ago

Sonoko Suzuki
Ran's best friend. Sonoko is very obsessed with guys, but later she develops a somewhat genuine liking towards Makoto Kyougoku, a promising martial artist

Hatori Heiji
hatori heiji is another detective like shinichi kudo from osaka.he often works with conan to solve cases.when Ran hears him say conan's real name, he will quickly covers it up with another word that sounds alike.(he is a good liar.)

Yusaku Kudo
Shinichi / Jimmy's father, who is a famous author of detective stories[1], and he created the popular character, "Knight Baron." He is extremely intelligent, and often had helped the police many times in the past solve cases that no one else could solve. His deduction skills are superior to Shinichi's

Yukiko Kudo
Shinichi mother, a former actress who gave up her career at age 20 to marry Yusaku against the will of her family. Because of her reputation as the wife of a famous mystery author and cases which she occasionally helps to solve, she has been given the nickname, "The Knight Baroness". after the main character that her husband created for his mystery novels.

Shiho Miyano aka Ai Haibara
A former member of the crime syndicate under the code name "Sherry". She was the inventor of APTX 4869, the poison that shrank Shinichi. Shiho betrays the organization after Gin killed her sister, Akemi Miyano. Shiho took the drug in a suicide attempt, but rather than dying, she, like Shinichi, became small. She is taken in by Dr. Agasa and becomes Conan Edogawa's right hand under her alias Ai Haibara.

Jodie Starling
Rachel's English teacher under the name of Jodie Saintemillion. She appeared to know Conan's secret, judging by her dialogue towards him (calling him "cool kid", etc). For a long time she was suspected by Conan's friends to be Vermouth in disguise, and even investigated by Conan and Harley on these suspicions

Gin
The mysterious members of the Black Organization and the ones responsible for turning Shinichi into Conan. Only their codenames are known and their exact relationship to each other isn't clear,.Gin seems to be the brains

Vodka

kaitou kid
He's not really a villain and certainly not part of the Black Organization, but he IS on the wrong side of the law and is the one criminal Shinichi/Conan hasn't caught. A 17 year old master thief, he is a master of disguise and can change his voice, plus he has lots of nifty gadgets to aid him in his escapades. When he's going to steal something, Kid leaves the police puzzling riddles, usually only Conan can solve them. Interestingly, he can't ice-skate and he hates fish!
