Code Geass

Synopsis
On August 10th, 2010, a.t.b., the Holy Empire of Britannia overpowered Japanese forces and conquered the country with their robotic weapons, the Knightmare Frames, in less than a month. Japan lost its freedom and rights and was renamed Area 11, and the Japanese people are renamed "Eleven" and forced to survive in ghettos, while Britannians live in first-class settlements. Rebel elements persist, however, as pockets of Japanese organizations struggle against the Empire for the independence of Japan. After his father, the Emperor of Britannia, did nothing to pursue the terrorists who murdered his mother and crippled his sister, a young boy named Lelouch, vowed to destroy Britannia. Seven years later in Area 11, he encounters a mysterious girl who gives him the power of the Geass. With it, he finally has the power that he needs to defeat Britannia and fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister can live happily.

i started watching code geass to look for its mecha contents. but as the ep progresses, the story doesnt even bother to explain in details wat kind of robots they use, weapons, or how they power up insanely. geass, the power lelouch (main character) conceived, is where the story centers as to how and what purpose he uses it.

there are many plot twists that you may have never seen in other shows, which adds more to its excitement and might make you say wtf. its fast pace makes almost every episode satisfying to watch without worrying for the next ep (i watched it weekly when it was airing). the enjoyment of this show also comes from lelouch's and his opponents' clever/devious schemes to defeat each other. c.geass may seem like a light anime, but lelouch's twisted personality (like yagami from desu note) and a series of unfortunate events give this anime a darker look than how the animation (the tsubasa chronicles look) suggests.

overall, this anime is prolly one of the best show i've watched. i mean, i couldnt even careless about the mecha shit. although, sometimes the mecha stuff just dont make sense anymore. if your an animehead like me and you havent seen it, then youre missin out.

give this anime 9.5/10
not a 10/10, bcos there are some fan-service contents that at times ruins its moments.

Characters
Lelouch Lamperouge
Seemingly an ordinary 17-year-old student at the Ashford Academy, Lelouch Lamperouge, also called Lulu by his friends, is in fact the son of the Emperor of Britannia and the late Empress Marianne and a member of the Britannia Imperial Family. His real name is Lelouch Vi Britannia

Suzaku Kururugi
Lelouch's childhood friend and son of Japan's last prime minister, Genbu Kururugi. For reasons unknown, Suzaku's existence was kept a secret from the public until after the war. After Britannia's invasion of Japan, Suzaku joins the Britannia Army and becomes an Honorary Britannian, and later, the pilot of the Lancelot, as a member of its R&D Division.

C.C.
A mysterious green-haired girl who bestows the power of Geass upon Lelouch under the condition that he would grant her greatest wish. She passively oversees Lelouch's missions to ensure that he does not die. Those abilities caught the interest of Britannia and she was imprisoned as a part of Britannia's experimentation in the past.
